Albuquerque is a beautiful city with some of the best museums, restaurants, and events that draws thousands of tourists each year to see the culture and diversity our city offers. However, Albuquerque citizens see a different story. Our City is facing low graduation rates, high crime rates, and high unemployment rates which all affect our growth.

Trujillo is dedicated and focused to work hard for Albuquerque on the issues we are facing.

What do you believe is our biggest issue?

What a year we’ve shared together. The ups and downs in seeing success and disappointments; I am proud to share that we are still charging. Running for office was truly a personal decision made with the intention to provide service, leadership and support for a community ready for change. District 5 is my home filled with amazing memories and support of family, but also of instances which redirected my life causing hardship.

As many of you read or heard, I was involved in an abusive relationship which unfortunately still affects my daily life. Living in fear has never been an option because I’ve made a daily conscious decision to strive for more. Growing through that pain created a new outlook and perspective into my life and helped shape a campaign based on community. After 6 months of hearings, I was able to complete my court case on March 15th, 2017 and signed my Declaration of Candidacy to run for City Council on March 16th, 2017. The decision to put a community first allowed for much more opportunity and growth. Seeing the changes it made in my life, I am excited to see how this change can bring Albuquerque together in ways we have yet to see.

Albuquerque is on a pinnacle of reshaping our future and defining our legacy. We have the potential to become a City competitive within a nation drawing talent and building talent.

We have a huge opportunity for our City and have the privilege of sharing and gaining perspective. I cannot tell you who to VOTE for and I will not endorse a political candidate. The choice is yours and I urge you to question and understand our remaining candidates and seek a candidate focused on upholding our strengths and providing support to any weaknesses. Character matters. Websites, social media networks, and public statements can be rehearsed, replayed and crafted. When our leaders are placed into unfavorable circumstances, we must know that the best interests of our neighbors will be upheld.
